SUMMARY:Branch Annual Dinner
DESCRIPTION:We will once again be having the Branch Annual Dinner on Friday 16th January at the Prince Rupert Hotel in Shrewsbury. 7pm for 7:30 sit down. All (including plus ones if they would like to join us) welcome.  \n\n\n\nThe cost is £42 pp for 3 courses and £36.50 pp for 2 courses. Real Ale will once again be provided by us\, proceeds of sales to branch funds. If you would like to attend\, please notify Helen Arkell (either in person or via pubs@saws.camra.org.uk) along with your menu choices. The deadline for booking a place is the 3rd January. Payment in advance preferred.

SUMMARY:Public Transport Group Trip to Stourbridge
DESCRIPTION:Shrewsbury & West Shropshire CAMRA social trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Stourbridge. This is the first of our out-of-area PTG trips for the year. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nWe have seven pubs on the list to visit\, with more options available if required. The seven pubs include five current Good Beer Guide pubs\, and pubs with beers from Bathams\, Black Country Ales\, Fownd\, Craddock’s\, etc. So it should be a good day. \n\n\n\nTRAVEL INFORMATION \n\n\n\nThe two main options for getting to Stourbridge are by train to Stourbridge Town station\, or by train to Wolverhampton and then bus to Stourbridge.  \n\n\n\nThe train takes 1hr 34m with two changes\, and includes a trip on the Stourbridge Town shuttle.  \n\n\n\nThe train and bus option will take around 2 hours to get to Stourbridge but is probably a bit cheaper\, and also gives people the option of stopping off at further pubs on the way back to Wolverhampton. \n\n\n\nShrewsbury to Stourbridge Town by Train: \n\n\n\n\n09:59 from Shrewsbury\, arriving at Stourbridge Town (after 2 changes) at 11:33   (change at Smethwick Galton Bridge at 10:52\, 19 min wait for the 11:11 to Stourbridge Junction arriving at 11:27\, 3 min wait for 11:30 Shuttle (every 10 mins) to Stourbridge Town arriving at 11:33)\n\n\n\n\nShrewsbury to Stourbridge by Train & Bus: \n\n\n\n\n09:30 train from Shrewsbury\, arriving in Wolverhampton at 10:10\, then walk to bus stop to get the No.16 Bus at 10:35\, arriving in Stourbridge at 11:40\n\n\n\n\nThe last pub of the day is opposite the Stourbridge Junction station approach\, so those getting the train back can go from there. For those going back by bus\, they can either take the shuttle train\, bus or walk back to Stourbridge bus station\, before taking the bus back to Wolverhampton. \n\n\n\nStourbridge Junction to Shrewsbury by Train:   From Stourbridge Junction\, choice of: \n\n\n\n\n16:30 and change at Smethwick Galton Bridge to get the 16:59 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:53\n\n\n\n16:50 and change at Smethwick Galton Bridge to get the 17:20 to Sandwell and Dudley\, and change again to get the 17:30 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:21\n\n\n\n17:30 and change at Smethwick Galton Bridge to get the 17:59 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:53\n\n\n\n\nStourbridge to Shrewsbury by Bus & Train:   No.16 Bus from Stourbridge bus station\, choice of:  \n\n\n\n\n15:45 bus arriving Wolverhampton at 16:56\, then Train at 17:12 arriving Shrewsbury at 17:53\n\n\n\n16:10 bus arriving Wolverhampton at 17:21\, then Train at 17:41 arriving Shrewsbury at 18:21\n\n\n\n16:25 bus arriving Wolverhampton at 17:35\, then Train at 17:57 arriving Shrewsbury at 18:47\n\n\n\n\nNOTE: Please double check your train and/or bus times just in case there are any mistakes with the above times. \n\n\n\nPUBS \n\n\n\nFor anyone getting to Stourbridge earlier than 11:30 when the main group arrives\, there is also a Spoons in town (Chequers – open at 8:00) and another GBG pub (Hop Vault – open at 11:00).  \n\n\n\nThe Seven Stars Black Country Ales pub in Oldswinford will be our final stop. It has up to 22 beers on and is opposite Stourbridge Junction station\, so people can spend as long as they want there before heading back.  \n\n\n\nA suggested order of pubs is shown below: \n\n\n\nRed House   (opens at 11:00)   – up to 8 ales eg Enville\, Fixed Wheel \n\n\n\nWeavers Real Ale House   (opens at 12:00)   – GBG – Fownd ales \n\n\n\nDuke William   (opens at 12:00)   – Craddock’s beers \n\n\n\nRoyal Exchange   (opens at 12:00)  – GBG – Bathams \n\n\n\nQueens Head   (opens at 12:00)  – GBG – Black Country Ales  \n\n\n\nWaggon and Horses   (opens at 12:00)   – GBG  \n\n\n\nWe can then walk (15 mins) to the final pub\, or walk to the station (5 mins) and take the train (every 10 mins) to Stourbridge Junction\, or walk to Church Street (5 mins) and get the No.7 or No.142 bus. \n\n\n\nSeven Stars   (opens at 12:00)   – GBG – Black Country Ales – up to 22 ales  \n\n\n\n   \n\n\n\nIf this is your first PTG trip and you don’t know anyone else who is going\, please email the PTG organiser so arrangements can be made to look out for you either at Shrewsbury station\, or at the far end. \n\n\n\nFor more information about our Public Transport Group (PTG) trips\, please see the About Our Events page.
