DESCRIPTION:Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Oswestry. This is the first beer scoring trip of the year to towns in our branch area. Members and non-members are very welcome! \n\n\n\nThe recommended bus is the 10:30 X5 from Shrewsbury bus station\, arriving in Oswestry at 11:25. First stop will be the Wilfred Owen. \n\n\n\nPlease note that this is a Friday trip as pubs in Oswestry have better opening hours than on a Thursday\, as can be seen by the information below: \n\n\n\n\nThe Bailey Head opens at 12:00 rather than 15:00\n\n\n\nThe Griffin is open all day rather than closing at 15:00\n\n\n\nNo. 56 (formerly the Bastion) opens at 13:00 rather than 17:00\n\n\n\nThe Bell opens at 14:00 rather than 16:00\n\n\n\nThe Black Lion opens at 16:30 rather than 18:00\n\n\n\nThe former Red Lion now the Coach House is open from Noon to 15:00 on a Friday and closed all day Thursday.\n\n\n\nThe Tankard\, Plough\, Oak\, Wynnstay Hotel\, Fox and Wilfred Owen are open all day.\n\n\n\n\nBus return times are 16:35\, 17:20\, or 18:05 from Oswestry bus station. \n\n\n\nFor more information about our Public Transport Group (PTG) trips\, please see the About Our Events page. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nOutward travel is on the 10:19 train ex Shrewsbury arriving Whitchurch 10:47\, return on the 16:29 arriving Shrewsbury 16:50. \n\n\n\nFor those who would prefer to use their bus passes\, the 511 bus leaves the bus station at 09:45 arriving Whitchurch at 11:07. The return bus is at 16:37 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:04. \n\n\n\nFirst call will be the White Bear open at 11:00  followed by the Black Bear open at 11:30. We would then normally cross to the Cock & Greyhound but apparently it no longer has cask beer. \n\n\n\nThe route will then be Red Cow\, Old Town Hall Vaults\, Old Eagles\, Bull’s Head. We will then visit the Crafty Dragon\, a new venue for our Whitchurch trip. SUMMARY:Beer Day Britain Shrewsbury Walkabout
DESCRIPTION:A Shrewsbury walkabout to celebrate Beer Day Britain\, starting at the Coach and Horses on Swan Hill at 3pm on Saturday 15th June. We will be in the Royal Oak\, Coton Hill in time to do the ‘Cheers to Beer’ at 7pm. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nThe route details are as follows: we will start at Coaches Horses at 3pm\, then The Admiral Benbow\, then the two Spoons\, The Kings Head and the The Salopian Bar & Garden. Figuring on half an hour per pub plus 5-10 minutes walking between town centre venues\, that should just give us time to get to The Royal Oak Shrewsbury in time to get a pint in hand for 7pm and the National Cheers To Beer. Updates to timing and the route will be posted on the Facebook page on the day. Those with additional capacity could do worse than a second pint there\, but will also be handily placed for The Woodman Inn and The Bird In Hand.

Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nWe will be taking the 11:30 Arriva X5 bus from Shrewsbury Bus Station\, arriving in Whittington at 12:09. We will be visiting the Olde Boote and the White Lion\, which are both open at 12:00. \n\n\n\nThen on the 13:41 Lakeside 449 bus\, arriving at Welsh Frankton at 13:46. There we will be visiting the Narrowboat\, which is open from 12:00. \n\n\n\nDeparting Welsh Frankton at 14:46 by bus\, we will arrive at Ellesmere at 14:53. Pubs available to visit before 16:00 will be the Swan\, Red Lion and Market Hotel. SUMMARY:Public Transport Group Trip to Bishops Castle & Pontesbury
DESCRIPTION:Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Bishops Castle and Pontesbury. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nOutward bus is the 10:05 from Stand N at Shrewsbury bus station. We will arrive at Salop Street Jcn\, Bishops Castle\, at 11:03. The Castle Hotel opens at 11:00\, then on to the Three Tuns and the Six Bells. \n\n\n\nWe will then get the 13:30 bus from opposite the Boar’s Head\, arriving at Pontesbury at 14:03. A short walk down Chapel Street brings us to the Plough which opens at 14:00\, from there we walk to the Nag’s Head. \n\n\n\nThe bus back to Shrewsbury will be the 16:15 from the stop outside the Nag’s Head arriving at Shrewsbury bus station at 16:40. \n\n\n\nIt is recommended to double-check the details on this page a day or so before the trip starts\, just in case any of the arrangements have changed.
