Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nWe will be taking the 11:30 Arriva X5 bus from Shrewsbury Bus Station\, arriving in Whittington at 12:09. We will be visiting the Olde Boote and the White Lion\, which are both open at 12:00. \n\n\n\nThen on the 13:41 Lakeside 449 bus\, arriving at Welsh Frankton at 13:46. There we will be visiting the Narrowboat\, which is open from 12:00. \n\n\n\nDeparting Welsh Frankton at 14:46 by bus\, we will arrive at Ellesmere at 14:53. Pubs available to visit before 16:00 will be the Swan\, Red Lion and Market Hotel. DESCRIPTION:Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Bishops Castle and Pontesbury. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nOutward bus is the 10:05 from Stand N at Shrewsbury bus station. We will arrive at Salop Street Jcn\, Bishops Castle\, at 11:03. The Castle Hotel opens at 11:00\, then on to the Three Tuns and the Six Bells. \n\n\n\nWe will then get the 13:30 bus from opposite the Boar’s Head\, arriving at Pontesbury at 14:03. A short walk down Chapel Street brings us to the Plough which opens at 14:00\, from there we walk to the Nag’s Head. \n\n\n\nThe bus back to Shrewsbury will be the 16:15 from the stop outside the Nag’s Head arriving at Shrewsbury bus station at 16:40. \n\n\n\nIt is recommended to double-check the details on this page a day or so before the trip starts\, just in case any of the arrangements have changed. Note that the PTG trips for September\, October and November have been changed round to accomodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which re-opens in October. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nOutward travel on Thursday 19th September is on the 10:19 train ex Shrewsbury\, arriving Whitchurch 10:47\, return on the 16:29 arriving Shrewsbury 16:50. \n\n\n\nFor those who would prefer to use their bus passes the 511 bus leaves the bus station at 09:45 arriving Whitchurch at 11:10. The return bus is at 16:32 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:02. \n\n\n\nFirst call in Whitchurch will be the Black Bear which opens at 11:30. The route will then be Red Cow\, Old Town Hall Vaults\, White Bear\, Crafty Dragon\, Old Eagles\, Bull’s Head. DESCRIPTION:Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to the Strettons. Note that the PTG trips for September\, October and November have been changed round to accommodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which was meant to re-open in October. This October trip is now on Thursday 17th instead of the Friday. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nWe start with Minsterley Motors bus No. 435 at 10:55 from Stand N at the bus station. We arrive at Little Stretton at 11:41 for the Green Dragon\, (11:30) then walk on to the Ragleth Inn (12:00). \n\n\n\nNext\, we get the 12:50 bus to Church Stretton arriving 12:55. Unfortunately the Ale House\, which was meant to have re-opened\, is still shut\, so we will be visiting Housmans\, the Kings Arms and the Bucks Head. \n\n\n\nThen on to the Yew Tree at All Stretton on the 15:30 bus. Note that the PTG trips for September\, October and November have been changed round to accomodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which re-opens in October. This November trip is now on Friday 22nd instead of the Thursday.  \n\n\n\nOutward travel is on the 10:30 X5 from Shrewsbury Bus Station\, arriving at Oswestry at 11:27. \n\n\n\nAccording to What Pub the town centre now has only 10 cask beer outlets\, 8 fewer than pre-pandemic days. The suggested route is as follows\, which\, with a few judicious halves\, should enable a score for all the pubs. \n\n\n\nWilfred Owen\, Coach House – before they get busy with diners\, Bailey Head\, Plough\, Griffin\, Fox\, Wynnstay Hotel\, Oak Inn\, Bell\, Black Lion opens at 16:00 \n\n\n\nBuses back from outside the Black Lion are the 16:35 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:33\, or the 17:20 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:15. \n\n\n\nFor more information about our Public Transport Group (PTG) trips\, please see the About Our Events page.

DESCRIPTION:Our annual Christmas Eve Shrewsbury Walkabout. This year\, we will be starting at the Beacon on Copthorne Road at 12pm\, then onto the Bricklayers Arms for 1pm\, and down Frankwell towards town. Members and non-members are all welcome! \n\n\n\nIf you don’t want to walk out to the Beacon\, there are buses that go from Shrewsbury bus station to the Richmond Drive junction on Copthorne Road\, leaving about 100m to walk to the Beacon. The No. 11 Gains Park bus from Stand J at the bus station is the one to catch. This currently goes every 15 minutes throughout the day on Monday to Friday.
