Christmas Eve Walkabout

Beacon 156 Copthorne Road, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

Our annual Christmas Eve Shrewsbury Walkabout. This year, we will be starting at the Beacon on Copthorne Road at 12pm, then onto the Bricklayers Arms for 1pm, and down Frankwell towards town. Members and non-members are all welcome! If you don't want to walk out to the Beacon, there are buses that go from Shrewsbury bus station to the Richmond Drive junction on Copthorne Road, leaving about 100m to walk to the Beacon. The No. 11 Gains Park bus from Stand J at the bus station is the one to catch. This currently goes every 15 minutes throughout the day on Monday to Friday.

Public Transport Group Trip to Shifnal

Trip starts at Shrewsbury Railway Station Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

Social trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Shifnal. The first of this year's out-of-area PTG trips. Members and non-members welcome! Outward train 10:59 from Shrewsbury arrives Shifnal 11:23. The plan is to visit the pubs in the order below, although we may have to stagger our visit to the micropub depending on how many there are of us. What Pub information for opening times and beer selection is as follows:- Park House: 11:00 - Hotel with one beer Kings Yard: 12:00 - Micropub with four beers Crown: 12:00 - Four changing local beers Plough: 12:00 - Four changing beers Wheatsheaf: 12:00 - Marstons range Jaspers Arms: 12:00 - Four beers including Holden’s Golden Glow Anvil: 12:00 - Black Country pub with eight beers Winking Frog: 15:00 - Young persons pub. Had Doom Bar on my last visit to Shifnal Bell: 17:00 - Two beers  Return trains to Shrewsbury are at 20 and 26 minutes past the hour. Beer Bus Trip to Oswestry

Trip starts at Salopian Bar 29 Smithfield Road, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

Social and beer scoring trip by minibus from Shrewsbury to Oswestry. The minibus will take us to some rural pubs near Oswestry and then into Oswestry centre itself, giving everyone the chance to visit CAMRA's national pub of the year, the Bailey Head. Departing from Salopian Bar at 7pm. Members and non-members welcome. Places must be pre-booked with Dave Ricketts – he can be contacted using the email address below, or by phone after 4:30pm (SMS text preferred). Festival Thank You Trip No. 1

Salopian Brewery Old Station Yard, Station Road, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

A trip to Salopian Brewery on Thursday 6th February. This is a combined thank you trip for everyone who volunteered or helped in any way at the last Shrewsbury Beer Festival in September 2024, and also an official branch visit so any branch member is also welcome to come along. The bar will be open for us and there will be the opportunity to speak to brewing staff and to tour the brewery. There is a bus from Shrewsbury bus station that arrives in Hadnall at 5:43pm, leaving a five minute walk to the brewery, which will open for us at 6pm. There is a bus back at 8:01pm, otherwise the branch will pay for shared taxis back to Shrewsbury town centre. Festival Thank You Trip No. 2

A trip using a hired bus to Tewkesbury Winter Ales Festival on Saturday 8th February. The bus is free for everyone who volunteered or helped in any way at the last Shrewsbury Beer Festival in September 2024, as a thank you for their hard work during the festival. Others are welcome to join us but a fare will be charged (price tbc).  If you are interested in coming, please let Dave Ricketts know by text or email (his contact details are below), as he will need to know numbers beforehand. The bus will depart from the Salopian Bar at 8:30am. We should get back to Shrewsbury between 5pm and 6pm. If you know of anyone that helped with our festival who may not have heard about this thank you trip, please try and contact them and let them know the details. Thanks.

Great British Beer Festival Winter

Magna Science Adventure Centre Magna Way, Templeborough, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom

The Great British Beer Festival Winter is back with hundreds of UK beers, international beers and real ciders and perries. The venue will be the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham, and the festival will run for 4 days from Wednesday 12th February 2025 to Saturday 15th February.
