DESCRIPTION:A trip to Salopian Brewery bar for everyone who volunteered at the Shrewsbury Beer Festival in September 2023\, as a thank you for their hard work during the festival. Anyone that helped in any way is welcome to come along. There will be a free bar and we will order takeaway pizza for everyone. \n\n\n\nPlease make your own way to the the brewery\, which opens for us at 7pm. Most people will be travelling by public bus from Shrewsbury to Hadnall. The branch will then book taxis to get people back to Shrewsbury afterwards. SUMMARY:Public Transport Group Trip to Liverpool
DESCRIPTION:Social trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to the Dale Street area of Liverpool. This is the first of our ‘out of area’ PTG trips that we do in January and February each year. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nSuggested itinerary is as follows:  \n\n\n\nShip & Mitre\, 133 Dale Street;  \n\n\n\nExcelsior\, 121 Dale Street;  \n\n\n\nVernon Arms\, 69 Dale Street;  \n\n\n\nThomas Rigby’s\, 23 Dale Street;  \n\n\n\nLady of Mann\, 19 Dale Street;  \n\n\n\nSaddle Inn\, 13 Dale Street;  \n\n\n\nHole in Ye Wall\, 4 Hackins Hey;  \n\n\n\nDenbeigh Castle\, 10 Hackins Hey \n\n\n\nAll offer a good selection of cask beers although the Saddle will probably only have national brands. All open at 12:00 with the exception of the Ship which opens at 11:00\, making it our first visit. \n\n\n\nSuggested train is the 09:26 from Shrewsbury to Chester. Then onwards on the 10:31 from Chester arriving Liverpool Lime Street at 11:13. The first pub is an eight minute walk from there. The Anytime Day Return from Shrewsbury to Chester is £15.90 which has no restrictions on outward and return times to/from Chester. Shrewsbury booking office also sells the Merseyrail Day Saver All Areas for £5.95. Suggested return is from Moorfields station which gives an opportunity to visit the excellent Lion pub on the way. \n\n\n\nFor those living north of Shrewsbury who are travelling to Liverpool via Crewe\, the 08:57 from Wem / 09:06 from Whitchurch will get to Liverpool Lime Street at 10:42. For those who prefer to use their bus pass\, the 09:55 435 from Shrewsbury bus station gets to Ludlow railway station at 11:10. \n\n\n\nSuggested return trains to enable onward bus connections from Shrewsbury are 16:19\, which arrives in Shrewsbury at 16:48\, or 16:52 arrives 17:24. The 15:55 bus from outside the Compasses arrives in Shrewsbury at 17:11. \n\n\n\nFirst port of call the Railway Shed (Ludlow Brewery bar). For those who don’t know\, there is an extra pub to visit following the re-opening of the George in the market place. The return bus is at 15:22 arriving in Shrewsbury at 16:53. \n\n\n\nFirst call will be the White Bear\, followed by the Black Bear\, then across to the Cock & Greyhound and back down the High Street. The last stop will be the Wheatsheaf.

SUMMARY:Public Transport Group Trip to the Strettons
DESCRIPTION:Beer scoring and social trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to the Strettons. Departing at 10:55 on Minsterley Motors bus from Stand N at Shrewsbury bus station. All welcome. \n\n\n\nItinerary: \n\n\n\nFirst stop the Green Dragon\, opens 11:30\, at Little Stretton and then walk on to the Ragleth. \n\n\n\nNext\, 12:50 bus to Church Stretton arriving 12:55. Two pubs to visit\, Kings Arms and Bucks Head. The former Catch\, now No. 46\, is a cafe until 16:00 but they have very kindly agreed to open the bar early for us. \n\n\n\nThen on to the Yew Tree at All Stretton on the 14:30 bus. \n\n\n\nNext the 15:35 to Bayston Hill arriving 15:59. The Three Fishes is open all day and the Compasses opens at 16:00. \n\n\n\nThe 435 leaves at 16:59 and arrives at the bus station at 17:11.
