DESCRIPTION:Social trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Shifnal. The first of this year’s out-of-area PTG trips. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nOutward train 10:59 from Shrewsbury arrives Shifnal 11:23. The plan is to visit the pubs in the order below\, although we may have to stagger our visit to the micropub depending on how many there are of us. \n\n\n\nWhat Pub information for opening times and beer selection is as follows:- \n\n\n\nPark House: 11:00 – Hotel with one beer \n\n\n\nKings Yard: 12:00 – Micropub with four beers \n\n\n\nCrown: 12:00 – Four changing local beers \n\n\n\nPlough: 12:00 – Four changing beers \n\n\n\nWheatsheaf: 12:00 – Marstons range \n\n\n\nJaspers Arms: 12:00 – Four beers including Holden’s Golden Glow \n\n\n\nAnvil: 12:00 – Black Country pub with eight beers \n\n\n\nWinking Frog: 15:00 – Young persons pub. SUMMARY:Christmas Eve Walkabout
DESCRIPTION:Our annual Christmas Eve Shrewsbury Walkabout. This year\, we will be starting at the Beacon on Copthorne Road at 12pm\, then onto the Bricklayers Arms for 1pm\, and down Frankwell towards town. Members and non-members are all welcome! \n\n\n\nIf you don’t want to walk out to the Beacon\, there are buses that go from Shrewsbury bus station to the Richmond Drive junction on Copthorne Road\, leaving about 100m to walk to the Beacon. The No. 11 Gains Park bus from Stand J at the bus station is the one to catch. This currently goes every 15 minutes throughout the day on Monday to Friday.

For those who prefer to use their bus pass\, the 09:55 435 from Shrewsbury bus station arrives at Ludlow railway station at 11:10. \n\n\n\nFirst port of call will be Ludlow Brewery\, next to the railway station. \n\n\n\nSuggested return trains for bus connections in Shrewsbury are the 16:20 train which arrives in Shrewsbury at 16:52\, or the 16:52 which arrives at 17:25. Note that the PTG trips for September\, October and November have been changed round to accomodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which re-opens in October. This November trip is now on Friday 22nd instead of the Thursday.  \n\n\n\nOutward travel is on the 10:30 X5 from Shrewsbury Bus Station\, arriving at Oswestry at 11:27. \n\n\n\nAccording to What Pub the town centre now has only 10 cask beer outlets\, 8 fewer than pre-pandemic days. SUMMARY:Public Transport Group Trip to the Strettons
DESCRIPTION:Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to the Strettons. Note that the PTG trips for September\, October and November have been changed round to accommodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which was meant to re-open in October. This October trip is now on Thursday 17th instead of the Friday. Members and non-members welcome! \n\n\n\nWe start with Minsterley Motors bus No. 435 at 10:55 from Stand N at the bus station. We arrive at Little Stretton at 11:41 for the Green Dragon\, (11:30) then walk on to the Ragleth Inn (12:00). \n\n\n\nNext\, we get the 12:50 bus to Church Stretton arriving 12:55. Unfortunately the Ale House\, which was meant to have re-opened\, is still shut\, so we will be visiting Housmans\, the Kings Arms and the Bucks Head. \n\n\n\nThen on to the Yew Tree at All Stretton on the 15:30 bus.
