Good Beer Here Scheme
We’re fortunate to have around 240 real ale venues in our Branch area. Not all of them can win or place in our Pubs and Clubs of The Year competitions, and not all of them can find a place in CAMRA’s flagship publication, the Good Beer Guide.
Our Branch can only add 26 pubs to the Good Beer Guide – so those 26 pubs are very much the Best of the Good in terms of beer quality, but it leaves plenty of room to be good and not get in (the lowest average beer score of GBG pubs in our branch area this year was 3.38, where 3.0 is defined as Good).
So we’ve come up with another scheme to recognise where pubs consistently serve good beer. Look out for this sticker in pub windows – it tells you that CAMRA members have scored the beer consistently at Good, or even better.

Every CAMRA member can score the beer they are served anywhere in the country – from 0.5 (undrinkable) to 5 (Excellent, keep them coming until I can’t take any more). The shortlist for Good Beer Guide selection is drawn from the pubs with the best average score (subject to a minimum of 10 scores from at least 8 scorers).
