Consumer Advice
The vast majority of pubs will have no problem topping up a pint for you if it turns out a bit short of a full measure, or replacing or refunding an extremely poor quality beer. However, occasionally we may come across a pub not willing to play fair and deal with your complaint, and it may be necessary to take the matter further. Other issues may also be noticed, such as not having clear pricing, or advertising real ale when they never have any available.
If you’ve had a problem in a pub that you couldn’t resolve satisfactorily with the pub’s management, then it may be worth getting some consumer advice. Shropshire Council’s Trading Standards team is no longer contactable directly, as all consumer queries and complaints now have to go through Citizens Advice. They are then able to escalate any complaint to Trading Standards if necessary. Please see below for contact information.
