Pub of the Season
In the Shrewsbury and West Shropshire CAMRA branch area, we have a lot of great pubs selling well kept ales that don’t quite make it into the Good Beer Guide or miss out on our Pub of the Year (POTY) award. So we’ve decided to allocate a Pub of the Season award to highlight some of the other excellent pubs in our branch area.
Every three months at one of our Branch meetings, we ask members to nominate pubs they think are worthy of Pub of the Season. The only criteria are that the pub must not be in the current Good Beer Guide, or be one of the Pub of the Year winners. The pub that then gets the most votes at the meeting will win the award. The winning pub will be given a framed certificate, and highlighted on this website and on our social media accounts.

A cosy 18th century building with an old fashioned servery and snug, more recently expanded on either side into adjoining outbuildings. The pub is in a superb rural location next to the River Severn, and there is a campsite for anyone wishing to stay overnight.
Although the pub has increased its focus on food, good quality local ales from Salopian, Three Tuns and Wye Valley breweries are still very much at the heart of the pub.

A Georgian townhouse recently converted into a superb old-fashioned parlour pub. Walking in this friendly and atmospheric pub feels like you’ve gone back in time.
There is no signage outside, so look out for the lamp over the front door, which is lit if the pub is open. The pub usually has two well kept ales from smaller breweries.

The Crafty Dragon is a new taphouse for Wrexham-based Magic Dragon Brewery. The pub is in a converted shop with a modern minimalist feel to the new interior. A very friendly and welcoming place, with a long bar to sit at and chat.
It usually has six real ales on handpump, mostly from the Magic Dragon range but with an occasional guest ale. Ciders and a good range of keg beers are also available.
