  • Tilstock Steam Festival

    Horseshoes Inn Wem Road, Tilstock, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    The Horseshoes Inn in Tilstock near Whitchurch is having another Steam Festival. There will be historic British steam engines on display as well as a collection of classic/vintage cars, tractors and bikes. There will also be live music throughout the day, and food and drink stalls.

  • Shropshire Real Ale Trail

    The next Shropshire Real Ale Trail run by the Ale Trail Company. This one-day moving bus-based festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the charming pubs of Shropshire while indulging in a variety of handcrafted ales with your best friends without the worry of driving.   • Public Transport Group Trip to Tilley Green & Wem

    Trip starts at Shrewsbury Bus Station Raven Meadows, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Tilley Green & Wem. Members and non-members welcome! This will be a slightly more relaxed Wem trip than usual, as the Dickin Arms and the Fox are both still closed at the moment. So we will be going to one pub in Tilley and four in Wem. Travel Information: Shrewsbury to Tilley by bus:   On the Arriva 511 bus at 11:45 from Stand L in Shrewsbury bus station. This should arrive at Tilley Green crossroads at 12:24, leaving a short walk to the Tilley Raven pub. Tilley to Wem:   A 15 minute walk into Wem town centre. Wem to Shrewsbury by bus:   The 511 bus goes from outside Wem railway station at 17:10, arriving at Shrewsbury bus station at 18:02 Wem to Shrewsbury by train:   Either the 16:34 arriving in Shrewsbury at 16:45, or the 17:54 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:12 Pubs: Tilly Raven (opens at 12:00) Warbling Tit Castle White Lion Hawkestone  (opens at 16:00).     Social and beer scoring trip by minibus from Shrewsbury to Bishops Castle. Departing from Salopian Bar at 7pm. Will be calling at Priest Weston and Hopesgate on the way.   • Macclesfield Beer Festival

    Macclesfield Rugby Club Priory Park, Priory Lane, Macclesfield, Cheshire, United Kingdom

    Macc Beer Festival 2025 organised by the Round Table will take place on the 9th and 10th of May at Macclesfield rugby club. There will be over 120 beers and 60 ciders available. It's free entry for the daytime session on Saturday, but the Friday and Saturday evenings are ticket only (£12.50 advance or £15 on the door).

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. Members and non-members welcome! Trip Details As the White Bear still seems to be shut, it leaves us with a maximum of 8 pubs serving cask ale to get round. Travel Information Most people travelling from Shrewsbury and beyond will be getting to Whitchurch by train, leaving a 10 minute walk from Whitchurch railway station into the town. The other option is by bus, which may be cheaper and takes you right into Whitchurch town centre but takes nearly three times as long as the train. Shrewsbury to Whitchurch by Train:  From platform 7B, get the 10:19 train which arrives in Whitchurch at 10:47 Shrewsbury to Whitchurch by Bus:    From Stand L, either the Arriva 511 bus at 9:45 arriving at Whitchurch Bus Station at 11:10, or Arriva 512 at 10:45 arriving in Whitchurch at 12:00 Whitchurch to Shrewsbury by Train:   Either the 16:26 arriving in Shrewsbury at 16:45, or the 17:41 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:12, or the 18:28 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:49 Whitchurch to Shrewsbury by Bus:    The 511 bus from the Bus Station outside Tesco at 16:32 arriving at 18:02 Pubs A suggested order of pubs is shown below. The Crafty Dragon have kindly offered to open an hour earlier than normal for us at 3pm.
