    Shrewsbury & West Shropshire CAMRA committee meeting, in the new venue of the Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury. All committee meetings for the foreseeable future will now be held in the Prince of Wales and not the Nag's Head. All members welcome

  • Shropshire Real Ale Trail

    The next Shropshire Real Ale Trail run by the Ale Trail Company. This one-day moving bus-based festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the charming pubs of Shropshire while indulging in a variety of handcrafted ales with your best friends without the worry of driving. The Ale Trail Company will be putting on buses to transport everyone around some fantastic pubs in rural Shropshire. For more information and to purchase tickets, please see their website here.   • Public Transport Group Trip to Whitchurch

    Trip starts at Shrewsbury Railway Station Castle Foregate, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. Note that the PTG trips for September, October and November have been changed round to accomodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which re-opens in October. Members and non-members welcome! Outward travel on Thursday 19th September is on the 10:19 train ex Shrewsbury, arriving Whitchurch 10:47, return on the 16:29 arriving Shrewsbury 16:50. For those who would prefer to use their bus passes the 511 bus leaves the bus station at 09:45 arriving Whitchurch at 11:10. The return bus is at 16:32 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:02. First call in Whitchurch will be the Black Bear which opens at 11:30. The route will then be Red Cow, Old Town Hall Vaults, White Bear, Crafty Dragon, Old Eagles, Bull’s Head.   • National Cask Ale Week

    Cask Ale Week is an annual celebration of Britain’s national drink – cask beer! It’s an opportunity for pubs and breweries to get involved and encourage their customers to try and promote real ale by organising events and activities throughout the week. Formed in the early noughties by Cask Marque, Cask Ale Week is supported by the major trade organisations, brewers & pub groups as well as The Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA). Pubs can find inspiration and list their events at https://caskaleweek.co.uk/pubs-and-breweries/, and of course Shrewsbury CAMRA Beer and Cider Festival runs through this event.   • Oktoberfest at Wheatsheaf, Frankwell

    Oktoberfest beer festival at the Wheatsheaf pub in Frankwell, Shrewsbury on Saturday 12th October. Hot food will be served all day and there will also be live music. German lager in steins, mulled cider and winter warmer cocktails will be served out of the caravan bar. £5 entry.

  • Public Transport Group Trip to the Strettons

    Trip starts at Shrewsbury Bus Station Raven Meadows, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to the Strettons. Note that the PTG trips for September, October and November have been changed round to accommodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which was meant to re-open in October. This October trip is now on Thursday 17th instead of the Friday. Members and non-members welcome! We start with Minsterley Motors bus No. 435 at 10:55 from Stand N at the bus station. We arrive at Little Stretton at 11:41 for the Green Dragon, (11:30) then walk on to the Ragleth Inn (12:00). Next, we get the 12:50 bus to Church Stretton arriving 12:55. Unfortunately the Ale House, which was meant to have re-opened, is still shut, so we will be visiting Housmans, the Kings Arms and the Bucks Head. Then on to the Yew Tree at All Stretton on the 15:30 bus. The 435 leaves All Stretton at 16:35 and arrives at the Shrewsbury bus station at 17:11.
