Public Transport Group Trip to Ludlow

Shrewsbury & West Shropshire CAMRA social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Ludlow. Members and non-members welcome!

The final PTG trip of the year will be to Ludlow on Thursday 18th December. Ludlow is one of our most popular PTG destinations and we will have 16 pubs serving real ale to choose from in or near the town centre, including two Good Beer Guide pubs. The Olde Bull Ring Tavern and the Compasses have also just re-opened, but the George is still closed.

Travel Information

Most people travelling from Shrewsbury and beyond will be getting to Ludlow by train, leaving a few minutes walk from Ludlow railway station to Ludlow Brewery, which will be our first beer stop. The other option is by bus, which takes 1 hr 15 mins and drops you off by the railway station.

Shrewsbury to Ludlow by Train:   From platform 4, get the 10:47 which arrives in Ludlow at 11:17

Shrewsbury to Ludlow by Bus:    From Stand N at Shrewsbury Bus Station, take the Minsterley Motors 435 bus at 9:55 arriving in Ludlow adjacent to the railway station at 11:10

Ludlow to Shrewsbury by Train:   Choice of either the 16:20 arriving in Shrewsbury at 16:54, or the 16:52 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:24, or the 17:19 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:46, or the 17:43 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:18

Ludlow to Shrewsbury by Bus:    Minsterley Motors 435 bus from outside the Compasses pub on Corve Street either at 15:55 arriving in Shrewsbury bus station at 17:11, or at 16:55 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:11

Pubs

A general order of pubs is shown below. We will meet at Ludlow Brewery around 11:15am and stay there until around midday. As we have a large number of pubs on the list, after the Brewery we usually split up into smaller groups to pick a subset of the pubs to visit. We will try and meet up again around 3pm in the Blue Boar, so we can have a drink together as a group before the early finishers start to head for home.
