Public Transport Group Trip to Whitchurch

Shrewsbury & West Shropshire CAMRA social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. Members and non-members welcome!

We have 8 real ale pubs to visit in Whitchurch, including three current Good Beer Guide entries. 

The Crafty Dragon have very kindly agreed to open an hour earlier for us again at 3pm, meaning that people getting the earlier train or bus back can have a bit more time in there.

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Most people will be getting to Whitchurch by train, leaving a 10 minute walk from Whitchurch railway station into the town. The other option is by bus, which takes you right into Whitchurch town centre but the journey takes nearly three times as long as the train.

Shrewsbury to Whitchurch by Train:   From platform 7B:

• 10:19 train, arriving in Whitchurch at 10:47

Shrewsbury to Whitchurch by Bus:    From Stand L at Shrewsbury Bus Station:

•  9:45 Arriva 511 bus, arriving in Whitchurch at 11:12
•  10:45 Arriva 512 bus, arriving in Whitchurch at 12:03

Whitchurch to Shrewsbury by Train:

• 16:27 train, arriving in Shrewsbury at 16:46
• 17:41 train, arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:12
• 18:28 train, arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:49

Whitchurch to Shrewsbury by Bus:    From the Bus Station outside Tesco:

• 16:32 Arriva 511 bus, arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:04
• 17:57 Arriva 511 bus, arriving in Shrewsbury at 19:22

PUBS

We will start off in the Red Cow at 11am. The last pub will be the Wheatsheaf, as it is nearest to the railway station. The suggested order of pubs will be as follows: 

Red Cow   (opens at 10:00)

Black Bear   (opens at 11:30)

Cock and Greyhound   (opens at 12:00

Old Town Hall Vaults   (opens at 12:00)

Bull’s Head   (opens at 12:00)

Old Eagles   (opens at 11:00)

Crafty Dragon   (opening earlier at 15:00)

Wheatsheaf   (opens at 12:00)
