Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Oswestry. Note that the PTG trips for September, October and November have been changed round to accomodate a visit to the Stretton Ale House in Church Stretton which re-opens in October. This November trip is now on Friday 22nd instead of the Thursday. Outward travel is on the 10:30 X5 from Shrewsbury Bus Station, arriving at Oswestry at 11:27. According to What Pub the town centre now has only 10 cask beer outlets, 8 fewer than pre-pandemic days. The suggested route is as follows, which, with a few judicious halves, should enable a score for all the pubs. Wilfred Owen, Coach House – before they get busy with diners, Bailey Head, Plough, Griffin, Fox, Wynnstay Hotel, Oak Inn, Bell, Black Lion opens at 16:00 Buses back from outside the Black Lion are the 16:35 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:33, or the 17:20 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:15. Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Ludlow. Members and non-members welcome! The outward train at 10:47 from Shrewsbury railway station arrives in Ludlow at 11:17. For those who prefer to use their bus pass, the 09:55 435 from Shrewsbury bus station arrives at Ludlow railway station at 11:10. First port of call will be Ludlow Brewery, next to the railway station. Suggested return trains for bus connections in Shrewsbury are the 16:20 train which arrives in Shrewsbury at 16:52, or the 16:52 which arrives at 17:25. Alternatively, the 15:30 bus from outside the Compasses arrives in Shrewsbury at 16:44. For those who want to stay later, the Blood Bay and the Dog Hangs Well both open at 17:00. Our annual Christmas Eve Shrewsbury Walkabout. This year, we will be starting at the Beacon on Copthorne Road at 12pm, then onto the Bricklayers Arms for 1pm, and down Frankwell towards town. Members and non-members are all welcome! If you don't want to walk out to the Beacon, there are buses that go from Shrewsbury bus station to the Richmond Drive junction on Copthorne Road, leaving about 100m to walk to the Beacon. The No. 11 Gains Park bus from Stand J at the bus station is the one to catch. This currently goes every 15 minutes throughout the day on Monday to Friday.

Social trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Shifnal. The first of this year's out-of-area PTG trips. Members and non-members welcome! Outward train 10:59 from Shrewsbury arrives Shifnal 11:23. The plan is to visit the pubs in the order below, although we may have to stagger our visit to the micropub depending on how many there are of us.
