  • Public Transport Group Trip to Whitchurch

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. Members and non-members welcome! Trip Details As the White Bear still seems to be shut, it leaves us with a maximum of 8 pubs serving cask ale to get round. Travel Information Most people travelling from Shrewsbury and beyond will be getting to Whitchurch by train, leaving a 10 minute walk from Whitchurch railway station into the town. The other option is by bus, which may be cheaper and takes you right into Whitchurch town centre but takes nearly three times as long as the train. Shrewsbury to Whitchurch by Train:  From platform 7B, get the 10:19 train which arrives in Whitchurch at 10:47 Shrewsbury to Whitchurch by Bus:    From Stand L, either the Arriva 511 bus at 9:45 arriving at Whitchurch Bus Station at 11:10, or Arriva 512 at 10:45 arriving in Whitchurch at 12:00 Whitchurch to Shrewsbury by Train:   Either the 16:26 arriving in Shrewsbury at 16:45, or the 17:41 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:12, or the 18:28 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:49 Whitchurch to Shrewsbury by Bus:    The 511 bus from the Bus Station outside Tesco at 16:32 arriving at 18:02 Pubs A suggested order of pubs is shown below. The Crafty Dragon have kindly offered to open an hour earlier than normal for us at 3pm.     Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Ludlow. Members and non-members welcome! The Unicorn has just re-opened as a Black Country Ales pub, so we will have a possible 17 pubs serving real ale to choose from in or near the town centre. Travel Information Most people travelling from Shrewsbury and beyond will be getting to Ludlow by train, leaving a few minutes walk from Ludlow railway station to Ludlow Brewery, which will be our first beer stop. The other option is by bus, which takes 1 hr 15 mins and drops you off by the railway station. (Note: please double-check platform numbers and bus stands listed below when you get to the railway or bus station, as these can sometimes change) Shrewsbury to Ludlow by Train:   From platform 4, get the 10:47 which arrives in Ludlow at 11:17 Shrewsbury to Ludlow by Bus:    From Stand N at Shrewsbury Bus Station, take the Minsterley Motors 435 bus at 9:55 arriving in Ludlow adjacent to the railway station at 11:10 Ludlow to Shrewsbury by Train:   Either the 16:47 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:17, or the 17:17 arriving in Shrewsbury at 17:47, or the 17:44 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:11 Ludlow to Shrewsbury by Bus:    Minsterley Motors 435 bus from outside the Compasses pub on Corve Street either at 15:55 arriving in Shrewsbury bus station at 17:11, or at 16:55 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:11 Pubs A suggested general order of pubs is shown below.
