CAMRA’s Members’ Weekend, AGM & Conference is held annually in April and is open to all CAMRA members. While the primary purpose is to debate motions to steer the Campaign and to elect the Campaign’s new board of directors, it is also a chance for our members to socialise in the onsite bar and explore the beer scene of different cities around the UK. Social and beer scoring trip by minibus from Shrewsbury to Bishops Castle. Departing from Salopian Bar at 7pm. Members and non-members welcome. A 3 day multi-venue music festival in Shrewsbury. Bands will be playing in larger venues such as Shrewsbury Castle and St. Mary's church, but also in many pubs in the town centre too. Entry to all the venues is free apart from the Castle where the tickets are £25 each. Please see the Loopfest website for more details.
Ludlow Spring food and drinks festival at Ludlow Castle, with a festival pub with around 200 beers, live music, comedy and food & drink vendors. Tickets can be bought at the door, or for a discount online here. Friday 10th May: Opening times: 3pm-9pm, evening only ticket 5pm-9pm. Saturday 11th May: Opening times: 10am-9pm, evening only ticket 5pm-9pm Sunday 12th May: Opening times: 11am-4pm
Black Country Ales are running their annual Ale Trail minibus tours this year between the 1st March and 31st May. Our local Black Country Ales pub, the Royal Oak in Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, is putting on a second Ale Trail minibus on Saturday 11th May, following a very successful trip in April. This will be travelling over to the Black Country at 11am to visit seven of the Black Country Ales pubs (see itinerary below), spending 50 minutes in each one, and then returning at 8pm. The cost will be £25 per person. Places on the bus are limited and must be pre-booked as soon as possible by going into the Royal Oak and putting your name on the list.

Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Whitchurch. Members and non-members welcome! Outward travel is on the 10:19 train ex Shrewsbury arriving Whitchurch 10:47, return on the 16:29 arriving Shrewsbury 16:50. For those who would prefer to use their bus passes, the 511 bus leaves the bus station at 09:45 arriving Whitchurch at 11:07. The return bus is at 16:37 arriving in Shrewsbury at 18:04. First call will be the White Bear open at 11:00 followed by the Black Bear open at 11:30. We would then normally cross to the Cock & Greyhound but apparently it no longer has cask beer. The route will then be Red Cow, Old Town Hall Vaults, Old Eagles, Bull’s Head. We will then visit the Crafty Dragon, a new venue for our Whitchurch trip. We will then finish at the Wheatsheaf. Sausage and Cider festival at Cromwell's Tap House in Shrewsbury. Over 30 different ciders and 15 different sausages will be available over the weekend. There will also be live music.
Real ale festival at the Prince of Wales pub in Shrewsbury, our current Shrewsbury Pub of the Year. Over the bank holiday weekend, there will be 18 cask ales available as well as light bites and bar snacks.
