Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Bishops Castle and Pontesbury. Members and non-members welcome! Outward bus is the 10:05 from Stand N at Shrewsbury bus station. We will arrive at Salop Street Jcn, Bishops Castle, at 11:03. The Castle Hotel opens at 11:00, then on to the Three Tuns and the Six Bells. We will then get the 13:30 bus from opposite the Boar’s Head, arriving at Pontesbury at 14:03. A short walk down Chapel Street brings us to the Plough which opens at 14:00, from there we walk to the Nag’s Head. The bus back to Shrewsbury will be the 16:15 from the stop outside the Nag’s Head arriving at Shrewsbury bus station at 16:40. It is recommended to double-check the details on this page a day or so before the trip starts, just in case any of the arrangements have changed. The Bailey Head in Oswestry has won the West Midlands Regional Pub of the Year, and the presentation will be taking place at the Bailey Head on Saturday, 31 August at 2pm.

The Swan at Marbury, just outside Whitchurch, is having a beer and cider festival from 5pm on Thursday 5th September until late on Sunday 8th. There will be a BBQ, music and a Meet the Brewer. £3 entry, £15 per night for camping. There will be a taxi shuttle service from Whitchurch, Wrenbury and Malpas for £5 per person per journey.
