  • Public Transport Group Trip to Oswestry

    Trip starts at Shrewsbury Bus Station Raven Meadows, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Oswestry. This is the first beer scoring trip of the year to towns in our branch area. Members and non-members are very welcome! The recommended bus is the 10:30 X5 from Shrewsbury bus station, arriving in Oswestry at 11:25. First stop will be the Wilfred Owen. Please note that this is a Friday trip as pubs in Oswestry have better opening hours than on a Thursday, as can be seen by the information below: Bus return times are 16:35, 17:20, or 18:05 from Oswestry bus station.   • Black Country Ales – Real Ale Trail

    Royal Oak Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    Black Country Ales are running their annual Ale Trail minibus tours this year between the 1st March and 31st May. Our local Black Country Ales pub, the Royal Oak in Coton Hill, Shrewsbury, is putting on an Ale Trail minibus on Saturday 6th April. This will be travelling over to the Black Country at 11am to visit seven of the Black Country Ales pubs, spending 50 minutes in each one, and then returning at 8pm. The cost will be approximately £20. Places on the bus are limited and must be pre-booked by going into the Royal Oak and putting your name on the list.

    Trip starts at Shrewsbury Bus Station Raven Meadows, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, United Kingdom

    Social and beer scoring trip by public transport from Shrewsbury to Tilley Green and Wem. Members and non-members welcome! Outward on the 511 at 11:40 from Shrewsbury bus station. Off at Tilley Green crossroads and walk to the Tilley Raven. Then a walk into Wem. The White Lion, Castle, and Warbling Tit will all be open by then. The Dickin Arms opens at 14:00. The Hawkstone Arms opens at 16:00. The Fox opens at 16:30. If returning by bus, the 17:10 from Wem railway station arrives at Shrewsbury bus station 17:55 If returning by train, the 16:38 from Wem railway station arrives at Shrewsbury railway station 16:50, or the 17:55 from Wem railway station arrives at Shrewsbury railway station 18:11.   • Shropshire Real Ale Trail

    The latest Shropshire Real Ale Trail run by the Ale Trail Company. Their description states "Following on the success of previous trails, it’s time to get ready for another extraordinary day out as the highly anticipated Shropshire Real Ale Trail returns. This one-day moving bus-based festival offers a unique opportunity to explore the charming pubs of Shropshire while indulging in a variety of handcrafted ales with your best friends without the worry of driving." The Ale Trail Company will be putting on buses to transport everyone around nine fantastic pubs in rural Shropshire. For more information and to purchase tickets, please see their website here.     The Horseshoes Inn in Tilstock near Whitchurch is having a Steam Festival. There will be historic British steam engines on display as well as a small collection of classic/vintage cars, tractors and bikes. There will also be live music and food. Please note, timings are approximate.
